Insung Information (www.insunginfo.co.kr), a leading provider of u-healthcare solutions, announced today that the company signed an MOU with Ajou University Center for Ubiquitous System Research (CUS) to develop a smart platform for customized exercise therapy programs. The system will be developed as a part of UCN (Ubiquitous Computing and Network) project.
UCN is a part of an MKE (Korea Ministry of Knowledge Economy) Frontier Technology project, “Core Technologies in Ubiquitous Computing and Network.” Marking the last (phase 3) and commercialization phase of the project, UCN includes creation of next generation services based on convergence technology.
Insung Information has been selected to participate in a UCN sub-project of “Game-Based Customized Exercise Therapy and Monitoring System with Real-Time Mobile Support on a Personal Device.” The development will begin in March, and is expected to be completed next year.
Based on the MOU, Insung Information and Ajou University CUS will jointly develop a business model that can be commercialized in the market.
The service to be developed in this project features a mobile biosensor that collects readings on the user’s heart rate, distance run, acceleration, calories consumed, etc. The data is then analyzed for an immediate feedback for the user regarding recommended course of exercise based on the user characteristics. The system provides an exercise experience equivalent to having a personal trainer.
